Nationwide Initiative Exemplifies UCM's Motto of 'Education for Service'
Consistent with the 欧美视频鈥檚 motto, 鈥淓ducation for Service,鈥� the UCM Alumni Foundation has announced the first MuleNation Weeks of Service event. The initiative brings students, alumni and their families together to engage in projects that will benefit communities in Missouri and five other states. This event begins on April 10 and concludes on April 22, which is Earth Day. It takes place during National Volunteer Week, April 16-22.

Weeks of preparation to develop knowledge and skills in several agriculture areas culminated with approximately 1,800 high school students competing in the Missouri FFA Central District competition March 28 at the 欧美视频.

The 欧美视频 Division of Theatre and Dance presents 鈥淭he Curtain Rises: Senior Showcase 2023鈥� at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 13 at the Highlander Theatre on the UCM campus and at 7 p.m. Monday, April 24, on the Levin Stage at the Unicorn Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri.

Following a review process coordinated by the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, 30 欧美视频 faculty members were awarded promotions and/or tenure for the 2023-2024 academic year. The Board of Governors was presented a list of these individuals when it met March 23.

Professor Emeritus Rodenberg Shares Stories Highlighting Fond Memories of Lab School, International Office Experiences
From his early years teaching at the 欧美视频鈥檚 former lab school to serving as the university鈥檚 first Director of International Programs, Professor Emeritus Terry Rodenberg has always had a reputation as a great storyteller. In retirement, he is putting that ability to use sharing with others two self-published booklets highlighting his own favorite memories as well as those of past colleagues and alumni. His first work, 鈥淎 Personal Look 欧美视频 Life at the Lab School鈥� and his second publication, 鈥淪tories of the International Office,鈥� are now available on a limited basis.

UCM Announces Schedule for Popular STEAM Summer Camps for Kids
The 欧美视频 is partnering with Black Rocket online learning company to offer both in-person and online STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) summer camps for children from age 6 to 14. The in-person courses are new this year with three-hours classes offered weekly via either morning or afternoon sessions June 26 through July 28 at the Missouri Innovation Campus in Lee鈥檚 Summit.

Criminal Justice Team Captures 20th Consecutive National ACJA-LAE Title
While finding a place to display 19 new trophies may pose a small problem for an award-winning program, it is a welcome challenge for the 欧美视频鈥檚 Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology. This shiny new hardware comes after a team of students and faculty members captured UCM鈥檚 20th consecutive Sweepstakes Award at the American Criminal Justice Association-Lambda Alpha Epsilon (ACJA-LAE) National Conference Competition.

Having grown up in a family that placed a high value on earning a college degree, Dr. Mary Long understands the benefits of a higher education, but also knows the pathway toward earning a degree often comes for many students with challenges, both academically and financially. When the former member of the 欧美视频 Board of Governors was presented the James C. Kirkpatrick Excellence in Governance Award on March 23 she reminded students to never give up in pursuit of their education goals.

While seeking to maintain the most affordable education possible for students amid rising inflationary costs, the 欧美视频鈥檚 Board of Governors approved slight increases in instructional tuition and general fees Fiscal Year 2024. Action on these matters took place when the board met in its March 23 plenary session on campus.
