UCM Board of Governors Member, Marvin E. Wright, Passes Away
Remembered for his dedication, commitment and the many contributions made in service to students, faculty and staff at the 欧美视频, Marvin E. 鈥淏unky鈥� Wright, Columbia, passed away on Friday, July 14 after an illness. A longtime attorney who served various public and private higher education institutions in Missouri, he was nearing his 14th consecutive year as a member of the UCM Board of Governors at the time of his passing.

Missouri Governor Names Student from Hermann to UCM's Governing Board
Missouri Gov. Mike Parson this week announced the appointment of Hadley Oden, Hermann, Missouri, as a student member of the 欧美视频 Board of Governors. She will serve a term ending Dec. 31, 2023, and until her successor is named, and fills a position previously held by Zachary Racy, a Riverside, Missouri, student who recently graduated from UCM.

Professor Staab's New Book Examines the Originalist Jurisprudence of Hugo Black, Antonin Scalia, and Clarence Thomas and the Limits of Constraint
A new book by a 欧美视频 professor profiles three prominent United States Supreme Court 鈥渙riginalists鈥� suggesting that in actual practice this approach to legal decision making does not deliver on its promise of being free of personal philosophy and discretion. While originalists have looked to the text and original meaning of the Constitution as a clear and objective approach for jurisprudence, the author notes that these three originalist justices would likely have come to different conclusions on a variety of legal matters if they all served on the same court together.

KMOS-TV was recognized by the Missouri Broadcasters Association (MBA) during an awards ceremony at its annual convention at the Lake of the Ozarks on June 3. The 欧美视频's public broadcasting station received a first place award in the category 鈥淪pecial Program鈥� for a story on the Missouri Meerschaum Company, part of the second season of its original series 鈥淢aking.鈥�

UCM Board Authorizes Budget Actions, Construction of Golf Center
During its June 8 plenary session, the 欧美视频 Board of Governors authorized revisions to the university鈥檚 Fiscal Year 2024 operating budget to reflect additional revenue and expenditures. It also approved FY 2025 operating and capital appropriations requests to the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD), authorized a construction contract and the naming of a new golf center at the Mules National Golf Club, and named the board鈥檚 executive officers for the upcoming fiscal year.
