Filled with action, comedy and fantasy fiction, ŷƵ (UCM)
Theatre and Dance will present “She Kills Monsters” in October in the Highlander Theatre.
“She Kills Monsters” tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home
in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s
Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery
and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. In
this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres and ‘90s
pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the
geek and warrior within us all.
“‘She Kills Monsters’ is so much fun. It’s funny, action-packed, dramatic and magical,”
said Director Aaron Scully, assistant professor of Theatre. “Also, it’s perhaps the
most challenging production I have ever directed. Bringing Dungeon and Dragons to
life on stage takes a whole lot of talented people who I couldn’t do this without.
The designers, technicians and actors have all been awesome and the magic they have
created will wow the audiences that come to enjoy our production.”
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 3-5 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 5-6 in the Highlander Theatre
on the UCM campus. UCM Theatre and Dance will present its Pay-What-You-Can performance
at the Sunday matinee, where audiences may pay any amount, $1 or more, for a ticket.
Additionally, ASL interpreters will be provided for the Saturday evening performance.
